4. Can I choose the level of the medical expenses cover I need with IPS?
IPS has 3 different packages, to ensure every person can get the right cover:
IPS Primary covers medical expenses as a primary insurance. This is meant for you if you do not have a separate medical expenses insurance and only if there is no obligation for you to have the Dutch "Basiszorgverzekering"; IPS Secondary offers excess or supplementary medical expenses cover to a separate primary compulsory coverage for medical expenses that you already hold, such as the Dutch "Basiszorgverzekering" or the EU Health Insurance Card. Your primary insurance must provide cover for medical expenses incurred abroad as a precondition to your right to make any claim under IPS Secondary. IPS Secondary provides coverage for medical and dental expenses only in the event that such expenses are not already covered under the conditions of your primary insurance, or where they are not covered under the primary insurance as a result of a compulsory deductible or benefit limit; IPS Basic does not cover medical and dental expenses. This package is only suitable if you already have adequate medical expenses insurance that fully covers medical expenses in the country where you will be staying. 5. What does the cancellation option provide?
Please note you can choose this option only if you are traveling abroad from the Netherlands. When you choose this option, you are also insured against costs involved in cancellation, delay to departure and/or costs involved in discontinuing your trip. Non-refundable travel and accommodation expenses which you incur when you cancel your trip because of a sudden unexpected event are covered by our policy (see policy conditions), and will be reimbursed up to a maximum of EUR 1,200 by IPS so long as you have chosen this cover option and have paid the premium. If you need a higher sum insured, please contact IPS.
